pepperdine space utilization study | malibu, CA
This study was for an academic campus that was growing but approaching the limits of its entitlements. The institution sought to better understand how it was utilizing space, as well as obtain our opinion as consultants about ways to improve that utilization through reconfiguration, reorganization, and/or space usage policies regarding sharing and use of technology.
Our scope included evaluating buildings and spaces in detail in terms of how/when they were being used, their physical conditions, and their potential for reconfiguration. We showed how the university could make measured improvements in how it is managing and using space to increase efficiency and improve operations. We created drawings showing where buildings could be redeveloped and move-migration diagrams showing how departments would be reorganized.
Role: Brian Jennett was the project manager for this effort while a Senior Real Estate Consultant in HOK's Advance Strategies group. He also conducted much of the analysis and created the supporting graphics and diagrams as shown below.
