Garuda wisnu kencana | bali, indonesia
Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) is a large (240 hectares) mixed use "cultural park" destination on the top of a hill overlooking Bali. Located in an old quarry characterized by dramatic rock formations that frame open air event spaces, it has a variety of attractions that emphasize Balinese culture and nature. The development serves a major event destination for large corporate events, weddings, cultural events, concerts, and even political gatherings such as the G20 Summit. It is the leading tourist destination in Indonesia, as measured by the number of international tourists.
The park includes one of the world’s largest statues (121-meters tall). The concepts and thematic planning address ecological, social, and ethical issues of the region.
The scope of this project included market analysis, development strategy, and financial feasibility of the real estate components of the project, which include hotels, resort residential (villas), F&B, MICE space, attractions, and cultural/performance space. The study was part of a larger masterplan that included landscape architectural services.
Economic consulting scope was completed by Brian Jennett and his team while he was serving as a Director of Economics at AECOM Singapore. Planning and design was by his colleagues.
Project is partially complete and operational and is one of the most visited attractions in Bali. More information can be found here:
